Final Reflection

This experience has been eye opening. I didn’t realise that technology was defined as something man made. I thought that there was only digital technology but I was wrong. Through my reflections you can see how in my centre I we use a range of different no digital and digital technology in our centre. I have personally learnt about significance of technology and what skills children can learn from it. We can see children developing and gaining new skills throughout my reflection and how I can further expand on this. I have learnt that children can learn problem solving skills through no digital technology (Smorti, 1999). I have really valued the feedback I got from my group members as it made me think more in-depth on my reflections and really think about how the technology is used efficiently.

My group member have given me great feedback on my Ipad reflection they have expressed their feeling on how they like the way we use the Ipad. They all talk about how they like the way we explain to the children how to use it and teach them about the internet and if something goes wrong take it straight to the teacher. The comments also show that they like the use of digital and non digital technology side by side in the centre. I have noticed that this is a very important part because we are evolving as a country and using technology side by side is exposing children to the future. On my third reflection I really appreciate the feedback I got. I like how everybody shared their experience and gave me ideas on how I can further develop the children’s learning. I can now plan and further facilitate the children learning thanks guys.

Overall I believe that children should be provided with resources that will facilitate children’s learning. I didn’t realise how technology is part of every day in early childhood. I saw all the technology but didn’t realise the importance and the learning children can gain from using different technologies. Children gain life skills through using technology they develop fine and gross motor skills, they are using creativity and imagination, communication and many more skills through the use of technology. From my personal experience and reading all of my group blogs we can see that technology is a create way to learn and more centres should be more inviting and welcoming to digital technology.
